2 things

that made me smile:A child, who, when served spinach salad for dinner, actually chooses to eat the choicest part of the spinach, and doesn't complain about it being spinach. (the discarded stems crack me up)

AND...

the skating rink for the 'big' boys. If you look in the background, you'll see the yellow of our house. The rink in the front yard apparently wasn't quite what these guys had in mind, so they trekked on out to the pond and made their own. Way cool. (oh. and happy inauguration day.)

GENIOUS! Next year you can forgo ALL the work of the front yard rink and use this one instead! Love the discarded stems as well. :)

Fun pond, and at least the child ate the spinach, even if the stem were discarded!

we're struggling with eating food here (and have been for, oh, 5 years or so...) How I would love to see that sight on my table at my 6 year old's place setting.

also, totally need a pond in my yard. the water table here is high enough, i bet it wouldn't be too far to dig....

(word verification: hydrudgu. I swear the Google gods are watching me type sometimes!)

Funny, i was JUST thinking about you and your ice rink today. My kids have been going to the pond to skate...so it made me think, you guys are double lucky...pond AND rink.
We need to skate on over for fun!

What fun! See there is a plus to living in the frigid cold!! I love the stems, that made me laugh. I am guessing that was M that did that?

Happy Monday!

Is that water in the background that hasn't iced over yet? If so, I'd be really nervous about being on the pond and having that open water so close. Hope they are all very careful. Years ago, we used to skate on part of the Charles River in Dedham. A man from church, who was one of our advisers in Young People's Fellowship, invited us to his home to skate followed by hot chocolate and then a ride to the bus stop to go home. Nice memories.
