in the cold, cold, dark

We drove to Belmont this morning, where I could feel 'at home' asking for showers and baths for eight people... three days without power and we're doing fine. We could probably go easily for another week. But who wants to? Right now, school is cancelled until Wednesday, and we're hopeful that one of the 129 Verizon trucks we passed on the way to mom and dad's house is on their way to our neighborhood. It was an amazing sight to inspire hope and stamina. The trucks were carrying telephone poles, equipment and were of all shapes and sizes. They just streamed on by in one steady line for 35 minutes. A beautiful sight. We're headed back to the cold and dark, but may leave a few kids in Belmont tonight. I've missed blogging! I'll have some good pictures when we finally get our power back... pray for those who don't have a nice wood stove to huddle around!
over and out.

So glad you have the stove. We have been talking about many things we will be doing and changing to help sustain us if this were to happen to us!

Sad for all of you going through it, but it has caused me to think of what we would do and need in your situation.

Hope you come back soon!

I was tempted to drive down for the party at mom's house yesterday. :) Just kidding, I really wasn't. I'm glad that you are prepared Jen. You're a great example to all of us. I'm on the hunt to get us a generator. TOP priority in the next coming weeks. :) Love you and we're praying for your power to be restored soon.

Dont you just love ice?!!?! Sorry you guys are without electricity, it was hard enough on James and I when we were without for 8 days each winter, I can only imagine having little ones at the same time...no fun...i too remember seeing the electric company trucks driving by and hoping they were headed to our house...my co worker actually chased one down cause she had new born! She caught them and they hooked her up...hope you guys get back in order soon!!!

Glad you have a home to feel comfortable in. Nothing like clean bodies, clean clothes, and a dishwasher to make you feel better.

I've been worried about you. Hope that your pipes are o.k. and that the woodstove has kept your home warm enough. I can't even imagine what everyone is going through. Glad you are all o.k. We didn't have any problems in NH. The only ice we encountered were in our friends' driveways. Fortunately I have a pair of YAKTRAKS given to me last year for Christmas and used those to walk across the driveways. Worked great!

I'm glad things are working out. The reports I recieved from my friends are scary- to think of that happening in little Lunenburg is weird. But at least everyone is together and safe! I hope your power (and heat!) is back soon. Is everyone bored to death? Kayla said she was- even reading made her hands numb from cold. Well, I hope things resolve soon!
