June 8-14 is Fall Prevention week. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!
And now for a safe driving tip:
It only takes a few extra seconds to play it safe when you back up - and those seconds can make the difference between life and death. While hard to imagine, every year more than 100 children die and thousands more are injured by being backed over, sometimes in their own driveways.
Before driving, the National Safety Council urges parents and other drivers to walk completely around their cars to ensure the safety of children and pets.
If I had thought to adopt the preceding safety procedure earlier than now, the lives of many skateboards, scooters and various and sundry other yard toys would have been preserved.
We could refer to it as the 30-second stroll.
I think it's a really good idea.

This is something I've been thinking a lot about lately. I have two nieces who are 3 who live near me and I just can't imagine how I would live if I backed up over them. It has made me extra cautious which is a very good thing.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the safe driving tip. Sadly this hits too close to home for me...my sweet aunt unfortunately expereinced this with her own little toddler. It has stuck with me all these years and I think of her every time I back up. (that's why I often back in to park) I love the cars that show you what you're backing into.
As for fall prevention week. I will do my best to NOT fall UP the stairs this week. That's my biggest struggle...I do it daily :)
Okay, thank you for the reminder. I was rolling my eyes when I saw the title today, but after reading your suggestion and LL's comments, it was a great thing to do.
I was in the PICU when a little boy came in after his dad ran over him while backing up. The grief that I witnessed that day was overwhelming. It's something I think about everytime I back up too.
