housekeeping

I found this on the floor yesterday afternoon.
me: 'wake up... I said. Wake up (louder)... don't you have to be somewhere? WAKE UP my dear (shaking arm this time)... are you burning the candle at both ends?'
A: [...mama-mia... ummmm, sure... whatever that means]
me: 'Haven't you heard of that expression before?'
A: [no.]
me: It means you're working both ends of your day until you're so tired in the middle, that this is what I find on the floor.
[...I'd like me some of that].

he couldn't hear you because he's plugged into his iPod.

He must have been having an interesting dream--that he was floating somewhere in the clouds. Need to get to bed early, A.

I see that same lump on my floor often. 6:30 am start time for school does that to him. And of course burning the candle on the other end here too.

Oh my gosh! That's exactly the phrase my mom said to me the other day! I guess A and I are both burnt out right about now...

One of the head organizers at the camp where I used to work during the summes used that expressions EVERY summer. Looking at the picture, it seems someone sure has been burning the candle at both ends.
