photo montage of conference weekend

It was a two-day feast. Eight hours of counsel and inspiration. I love the home-i-ness of conference weekend.
I love watching my kids while they watch conference.
I love the togetherness.
I love the introspection and thought.
And I love that twice a year we can have Sunday brunch as a family.

licorice and hula hoops

Probably the most worthwhile trip I made anywhere last week
was to the licorice and hula hoop store.
A request that morning by little man to please get licorice and hula hoops.
Because don't you know that the fuel you need to power those hips comes from high octane twizzlers? Apparently it does. Especially when you're four.
I didn't really go anywhere last week,
(and calling it a milk, bread and peanut butter run wouldn't be as exciting)
so it wouldn't be hard to qualify this trip as the trip for sure.
worth every cent.

A first-time hula man is doin' fine.

Heaven Sent

May I please direct your attention to the handsome birthday boy who turns SEVEN today?

This is Ben.

Happy Birthday Big Boy!!

I love you.

I'm proud to call him nephew.
Even though he's celebrating seven years on the earth,

he has spent more time teaching others
than men four times his age with a myriad of degrees.

Because Ben's mission on earth has been to teach us.

If you haven't met Ben yet, PLEASE.

Go visit his website, and meet him. He's amazing.

sunshine, barefeet and running!

I interrupt your day to bring you 12 seconds of contagious happiness:
(The snow is GONE)
(Spring has arrived!)
YAY!!!
childhood, bliss and letting loose...

All in a day

This morning over a nice breakfast (I actually try to do that part every day...)
I told my kids that I would need to be picking them up early, and asked what class they would be in during the last period of the day.
Because their pediatrician has set up a meningitis clinic this afternoon, and I would very much like for my children not to have to get this awful disease.
I explained that it was sort of like the flu, only worse, and that getting the disease was potentially fatal, so it was a really good idea to take advantage of the clinic.
I saved for last, that it was a three-part immunization, and that they'd have to get it in their spine, but it would only make them a little sore.
Oh my... you can imagine the enthusiasm with which this was met.
Especially the ones who were receiving this news pre-early morning seminary.
Then I couldn't compose myself any longer, and I happily shouted:
APRIL FOOLS!
Good times with mom.
