tired woman

Whew!
Maybe you knew, maybe you didn't, but in between my resolutionary activities
I've been nursing kids with a nasty stomach virus.
I was going for the "Mom's aren't allowed to get sick" scenario.
Things didn't quite play out that way, but we're on the flip side now.
One day down, one day in recovery.
I have to laugh when I remember my thoughts as I was bent over the bowl;
"Good thing I've been working on my inner core strength"
and
"This makes the abs and back routine look like a cake walk"
Then like a gift from heaven, the skies will open up this afternoon, and cause all evening activities to be cancelled. One more evening of REST. Thank you, snow.

Random Sampler

Just when you *hope* the bug has flown, number two goes down.
Now my thoughts switch from "this'll pass..." to "...how many of the seven of us are going to get this?"
Instead of going to bed, I'm throwing another load of laundry in, and checking the gingerale-apple juice-saltine stockpile.
On a healthier note,
I'm on a 30-day mission to de-clutter and make an attempt at reigning in a bit of organization in my crazy house.  Yesterday's feeble attempt went to my plastics cupboard and drawers.  The "Tub-O-Ware" closet, as it is affectionately referred to by some.  I even fixed the shelf!  Didn't want to, but BAM! I did.

Tonight I put off the deed until dinner time.  Because I have been reporting daily to my husband, he had my back, and enlisted the help of the teenage omelet maker; the two of them whipped up dinner while I cleaned.
Check out my meal!

It was GOOD.  And it was so liberating just to show up for dinner.

Here's what I was able to finish while the troops were covering kitchen duty.

Not perfect, but the flashlights are all working, the pens and pencils have stopped breeding in there (for now), our recycle container is almost full, and the trash was just collected yesterday.

Chug-a-lug!

Fridays. We love them!

The anticipation of a weekend ahead...
...knowing that even tho' it's a school day, we can get through just ONE more..
...and knowing that even when you're sick, tomorrow's still Saturday, and there's FUN in your future;...
and finally, remembering that with each Friday, SPRING is getting closer!~

Some before and after:

Why procrastinate when the end result feels so much better?  I don't know.  But here's a sampling of what I've been working on.  Baby steps.  Little bites.  And there are many more of these little projects to go...

PROCRASTINATION

I'm good at it.
I know exactly where NOT to walk,
where NOT to look
and what NOT to do.
So here I am.
Agh!~

Feeling LOVE on February 1st

Dear Mom,
THANK YOU! for answering the phone so cheerily this morning.
And thanks SO much for coming over just because I asked you!
Thank you for bringing dinner.  And coming prepared to WORK.
Thanks for altering your plans, however, when work was not what I wanted to do.
Thank you for laying on the couches with me, enjoying the fire
and then for playing a not-so-challenging game of scrabble...
It sure beats doing housework and laundry...
I had such a relaxing two hours while my little man was at school.
Thanks for keeping pace with me.
Shall we book a permanent Monday appointment?
I feel loved.
xo
Jenny
P.S. The FLOWERS!  They're SO lovely.  I love you, Mom.
