before the planets and stars aligned
And scheduling conflicts dominated
And my mind just couldn’t keep up…
Tonight at 7:40pm I realized that I forgot/abandoned a child. Across town.
With six kids, really, the odds have been increasingly stacked against me.
It was definitely more devastating for ME than for the child.
Alas, all is well. We’re all home and tomorrow is a new day.

Ah, I'm so sorry. And yet, I'm kind of glad this has happened to someone else too! Done this before and I only have three to keep track of.
(Greg's parents left his little sister at a rest area once and got about 1/2 away before realizing it. This has always made me feel better. Maybe it will you, too.)
1/2 hour away, I meant
Oh I just forget to take them in the first place!
Sorry. Been there and done THAT! (ugh)
I'll join you in the hall of motherhood SHAME! It's happened to me too :( It hurts, and I STILL have panic moments of flashback!
My parents left me stranded at school more times than I could possibly tell you. Then there were all the times they left me at work but wouldn't allow me to walk the quarter mile home because it was too late at night. Seriously. I am (mostly) not bitter about it and (mostly) over it.
If your child decides to feel sorry for himself or herself, have him/her give me a call. :)
Don't panic unless it happens to the same kid more than once. Like Ben.
My husband was left home at once. When he was 2. Situation: 6 kids, two small cars, time period before car seats. One parent took kids one place, the other parent too the rest of the kids somewhere else. Each thought the other had baby plantboy. He got out of the house, wandered down the street where a neighbor found him and brought him home until she saw someone show up.
You are doing awesome, mom. Plantboy has almost forgiven his mother for it. ;)
Which one did you leave on the other side of town?
We are harder on ourselves. I was a forgotton child long ago too, more than once! I thought it was awesome!!! An adventure, something to lord over my parents for years while really the event had very little effect on my emotions. It is all perspective!
(Hopefully this child feel the same, if so your golden!)
Go fight win!
