Patriot's Day is one of my FAVORITE Spring Holidays.
It's a great day for displaying patriotism. (and playing checkers)

We left the house at dawn, and marched 5 miles with the
Carlisle minutemen to
Concord, where we witnessed the muster of the minutemen from surrounding towns, a parade and some re-enactment at the
Old North Bridge.

If cannons, black powder rifles and fife and drum corps are not for you, there's always the
Boston Marathon and the
Red Sox game, which happen concurrently on the third monday in April.
It's great to live near so much history and quality
hullabaloo.
I love Concord and with all its history hullabaloo. Didn't even know it was Patriot's day (very unpatriotic of me). My dad's in Boston right now (actually on the Cape today I think) I wonder what he's doing to celebrate?
ReplyDeleteOh..... No Patriot's Day in UT... :(
ReplyDeleteHullabaloo is such a great word.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your day. I've never been to any of those places. Guess I need a tour guide named Jenny! I did work in my yard for over 4 hours raking. I'm beat.
ReplyDeleteI miss that stuff! I'd get up and go with Jarrod every year!
ReplyDeleteyou were right in our town :)! Too bad I didn't know to watch for you. I love Patriot's Day.
ReplyDeleteI just love it there! I've always dreamed of living in Concord when I grew up. Now I'm grown up and no Concord- too expensive! No, I didn't go this year, perhaps when my children are a bit older. Glad you had fun day.
ReplyDeleteWe went last year, forgot the LADDER!
ReplyDeleteBut kids on my shoulders said it was great.
Don't you love new England?!!
Jen, you did not mention the battle on Lexington Green?
ReplyDeleteWe got up at 4 am and viewed that with the Schenewarks one year.
Be sure to bring your ladder.
